Microsoft Teams Rooms 2024 Q3 Roadmap: new features for effortless collaboration
Stay ahead with the latest updates for Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows, designed to make your meetings smoother and more productive.
From enhanced camera controls and seamless cross-platform integration to dynamic video adjustments and built-in digital signage, these new features bring added convenience and efficiency to every meeting space. Discover how these updates can elevate your collaboration experience, ensuring you get the most out of your Teams Rooms setup.
Native PTZ Controls for Teams Rooms on Windows
Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows now offers native Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) controls for connected cameras that support this feature. Initially, support is limited to mechanical/optical PTZ cameras, with digital PTZ functionality coming soon.
Users will have more precise control over their video feeds, ensuring optimal framing during meetings without needing additional hardware or software.
One-Click Recording for Teams Rooms on Windows
Users can now start or stop recordings directly from the Teams Rooms device during meetings, eliminating the need to join on a companion device. The start/stop recording button is available for all in-tenant meetings and requires a Teams Rooms Pro license.
This makes it easier to capture important meetings or presentations, reducing setup time and the chance of missing key moments.
Seamless SIP Join for Cross-Platform Meetings
Easily join meetings on Google Meet, Zoom, Cisco Webex, and other SIP-based platforms through Teams Rooms. The interface mirrors the familiar Teams layout and supports 1080p video, dual screens, HDMI input, and more, depending on the third-party platform's controls. A SIP calling plan from a CVI partner(currently Pexip) is required for Teams Rooms Pro customers.
Users will enjoy a consistent, high-quality meeting experience across multiple platforms, allowing them to collaborate effortlessly with external teams using different conferencing services.
Digital Signage for Teams Rooms on Windows
Transform your Teams Rooms front-of-room display into a dynamic content hub when not in use. Admins can configure tenant-wide or room-specific digital signage remotely via Teams Rooms Pro Management. Integrations are available with third-party providers like Appspace and XOGO. This feature is exclusive to Teams Rooms Pro license holders.
Maximise the use of meeting room displays by showcasing important announcements, branded content, or engaging visuals during downtime, improving internal communication and creating a more dynamic workspace.
Dynamic Video Tile Resizing Based on Room Occupancy
The video tile for your meeting room now automatically adjusts based on how many people are present. With one person, the tile is the same size as a remote participant’s. With two or more people, the room tile expands to four times the size. Admins can enable or disable this people count feature.
Participants in remote meetings get a clearer and more accurate view of everyone in the room, making group collaboration more seamless and improving the overall meeting experience
