In the fast-evolving world of AV technology, staying ahead means tackling emerging challenges while embracing innovation. As a leading distributor, Ingram Micro plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between vendors and resellers, ensuring seamless delivery of cutting-edge solutions across diverse industries.

Current Market Dynamics

The AV market has seen notable shifts in spending patterns. According to Santino from Ingram Micro, government sectors are currently driving much of the demand, while end-user spending in other sectors has seen as lowdown.

“We’re seeing a lot of opportunity within government at the moment. The end-user spend hasn’t been as high this year, which is a trend we’re monitoring closely,” says Santino.

This shift underscores the importance of adaptability, particularly as vendors and resellers navigate fluctuating market demands.

Simplifying the Path to Market

One of Ingram Micro’s core strengths lies in its ability to streamline the distribution of AV products. From high-demand brands like Logitech and Jabra to premium headset solutions from Epos (partnering with Sennheiser), Ingram Micro offers a broad product portfolio tailored for easy installation and use.

To enhance this, the company provides services that facilitate installations, helping resellers save time and maintain margins.

“We aim to simplify the entire process—from product selection to installation—allowing our resellers to focus on delivering value to their clients,” Santino notes.

The Role of AI and Refinement in AV Solutions

While many AV solutions might seem similar on the surface, subtle refinements continue to enhance user experience. AI integration in AV systems, particularly in video conferencing environments like Microsoft Teams, is a prime example of this evolution.

“The biggest innovations are in refining what’s already available. It’s about fitting the right solution to the right environment and budget,” Santino explains.

These incremental improvements, though often understated, are crucial for delivering seamless, intuitive user experiences.

Sustainability as a Growing Priority

Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations are becoming a major focus across the AV industry. From product packaging to shipping methods, both vendors and distributors are taking steps to reduce their carbon footprint.

“Sustainability is at the forefront for many of our vendors — Microsoft, Logitech, Jabra — and for Ingram Micro as well. We’re optimising shipping processes and encouraging vendors to innovate in areas like packaging and product design,” Santino highlights.

Examples include Samsung eliminating batteries from their remotes, reducing e-waste, and Ingram Micro shortening shipping distances to minimise emissions. These efforts reflect a collective push towards more sustainable practices across the AV supply chain.
